This is actually a fantastic part of the movie because Pixar is giving the viewers a gentle reminder of what real life is like. Accidents happen, even to good people, and you can’t make it a tragedy if you have to dip into your savings to repair the damage. You just have to keep moving forward, work hard, and hope for the best.

Coulson still believing in SHIELD despite everything is what broke me.  The whole point of his character in The Avengers was that he was the one that believed in heroes, believed in something stronger than evil.  And there he was, and it was all gone, and he still believed.  Despite everything he would not give up.  They all thought he was crazy, and it hurt him, but he still had to believe.
